While the Virtual Private Network (VPN) is active, you are unable to access certain websites, apps, or systems, such as a banking app or website. The VPN is a service that secures your online activity. Some sites, services, and apps prohibit you from accessing content while running a VPN.
Symptoms of this issue
Being unable to navigate to specific sites, download, upload, view content, or use an app on your desktop or mobile device while VPN is toggled On.
What causes this issue
Some sites, apps, and systems block the use of VPNs to:
- Prevent fraud: Banks and online stores use information such as your IP address to help verify your identity when making transactions. Their anti-fraud technologies can sometimes flag new unrecognized IP addresses as potential fraud.
- Enforce location restrictions: Prevent access to streaming sites and services content that is only available in certain locations, due to contracts and streaming rights.
- Enforce censorship: Users from countries with high levels of internet censorship are blocked from accessing certain sites or content.
How to resolve this issue
To access the site, app, or system, you need to open your Desktop Security, Mobile Security, or VPN app, navigate to the VPN section and temporarily disable the VPN. Once the VPN is disabled, you can try to access the site, app, or system.
