The Malwarebytes Browser Guard Settings screen allows you to customize protection settings for all websites you visit with your browser. Toggle switches next to the protection settings to turn them on or off. Turning off any of the protection features may limit your browsing privacy and security. These settings do not apply to private or incognito windows.
To view this screen on Chrome, Edge, and Firefox browsers, open the Browser Guard extension dashboard and click the menu iconin the upper-right corner of the screen, then click Settings. On the Safari browser, click the
cog icon in the upper-right corner of the Browser Guard screen to view Settings.
See the following list for a description of each protection setting:
- All protection settings: This switch toggles all settings On or Off.
- Ads/Trackers: This is a privacy setting and has no effect on your safety. Turning this setting off may slow website access.
- Malware: This setting affects your safety. It filters sites you access based on the Browser Guard malware database.
- Scams: This setting affects your safety. When on, it filters sites known to participate in scams.
- Show block count: This setting allows you to manage the display of block count on the extension icon while you browse the internet.
- Advanced Skimmer Protection: This setting affects your safety. While On, it protects your card details from skimming tactics used by scammers on checkout pages.
- gTLD domains: This setting blocks suspicious top-level domains (TLD) that are frequently used by scam or phishing sites.

Notifications
- Monthly summary: This setting sends you a summary of detections and blocks from the last 30 days.
- Real-time malware notifications: This setting notifies you when it actively stops malware while you're browsing the internet. When the setting is off, Browser Guard still blocks the malware on the webpage, but won't notify you.
- Breach alerts: This setting notifies you when you visit the website of a company or business that has had a data breach. This notification will only show once per site.
- Search hijacking notifications: This setting notifies you when your browser's settings have been modified without your consent. This feature is designed to protect you from malicious software that redirects your search results to scam sites.
- New release notifications: This setting notifies you when there is a new update available.

Permissions
- Clipboard read permission: This setting is for monitoring your clipboard content to detect suspicious data that may be a threat to your security.
- Verbose Logging: This setting is for collecting logs for third-party testing and Malwarebytes customer support.
