Uninstall and reinstall Malwarebytes for Windows with the Support Tool

Use the Support Tool to perform a clean reinstallation of the Malwarebytes app. If you're experiencing a technical issue that can't be repaired, you can use the Support Tool to uninstall and reinstall the app. To do this, use the Advanced Clean option to delete all app files and configurations. You then have the option to reinstall app once removed.

Uninstall the app

1. Download the Support Tool.
2. In the Downloads folder, open the mb-support-x.x.x.xxx.exe file.
3. In the User Account Control pop-up window, click Yes to continue the installation.
   • Microsoft .NET 4.8 Framework is required to run the Support Tool. If you do not have the .NET 4.8 Framework, you will receive this error:
     
   • In the pop-up window, click OK to open Microsoft's download page and download the latest update.
4. In the Software License Agreement pop-up window, check the box () next to Accept License Agreement.
5. Click Next to complete the installation, and the Support Tool automatically opens.
6. In the left navigation menu of the Support Tool, click Advanced.
7. In the advanced options, click Clean.
8. In the cleanup pop-up window, click Yes. A second window appears once the cleanup is complete. 
9. Click OK to restart your computer. 

Reinstall the app

1. Once your computer restarts, the Support Tool opens. Click Yes and a Post reboot cleanup window appears.
2. Your uninstallation is now complete. A reinstall option displays, click Yes if you want to reinstall the app.
3. Choose your device type when prompted during the installation: 
   • Personal Computer
   • Work Computer
4. Click Install. Once the loading bar finishes, the app is successfully reinstalled.
