Scan a file or folder with Malwarebytes

Malwarebytes' Desktop Security provides several ways to scan your device to check for threats. You can scan your entire computer efficiently with a Quick scan, or focus on a specific file, folder, or external drive with a Custom scan. You can also scan a file, folder, or external drive directly from your file explorer (Windows) or scan a folder from your Finder (Mac) to see if the item is safe and secure.

To scan a specific item on your Windows device:

1. On your Windows device, open your file explorer.
2. Find the file, folder, or external drive you want to scan.
3. Right-click on the desired item.
4. In the pop-up context menu, click Scan with Malwarebytes.
5. Once the scan is complete, the Malwarebytes icon will flash in your system tray. 

Once the scan is complete, you can open the app to view the scan report and quarantine any detected threats.

To scan a specific folder on your Mac device:

1. On your Mac device, open the Finder.
2. Find the folder you want to scan.
3. Right-click on the desired folder.
4. In the pop-up context menu, click Scan with Malwarebytes.
5. The app opens automatically and starts the scan.

Once the scan is complete, you can view the scan report and quarantine any detected threats from the app.
