Remote Desktop programs are often used to access work devices remotely or assist customers in fixing issues on their device. However, they are also used by bad actors to view your activity and steal sensitive information, such as logins and passwords. Desktop Security for Windows uses its Remote Desktop Monitoring feature to monitor and alert you if Remote Desktop programs are found on your device.
Uninstall unwanted Remote Desktop programs
When Desktop Security finds Remote Desktop programs on your device you can uninstall them directly from the app:
- Open the app.
- Click Privacy Controls
in the left side bar.
- Click the Remote Desktop programs tab.
- Click the edit icon
next to the Remote Desktop program you want to uninstall.
- In the pop-up, click Uninstall. Your Windows settings screen opens on the Apps page.
- From the Apps page, navigate to the app and uninstall it.
Stop receiving alerts about Remote Desktop software
If you are purposefully using Remote Desktop software on your device, you can tell Desktop Security to stop alerting you to the software:
- Open the app.
- Click Privacy Controls
in the left side bar.
- Click the Remote Desktop programs tab.
- Click the edit icon
next to the Remote Desktop program you no longer want alerts for.
- Click the check box next to I recognize this program, stop alerting me about it.
- Click Done.
