Manage Desktop Security notification settings on Windows devices

You can change your notification settings to customize how you want the app to notify you when it detects a threat, when a new update is available, or when the status of your subscription changes. Read on to learn more about notification settings for the app on your Windows device.

To view notification settings:

1. Open the app.
2. Click the Settings icon in the left side bar.
3. Click Notifications.

Follow the steps above to view your notification settings, or open the settings page directly from a notification.

• General updates
  • Trusted Advisor recommendations: Turn on this setting to receive notifications with recommendations for securing your device. Click here to learn more about Trusted Advisor. 
  • New features and changes on Malwarebytes products: Turn off this setting to stop seeing What's New notifications when there is a new Malwarebytes version.
  • Malwarebytes promotions, special offers and helpful tips: Turn off this setting to stop receiving promotional notifications from Malwarebytes.  
• Scan notifications
  • Scan completed with no threats detected: Turn on this setting to hide notifications when a scheduled scan finishes without detecting any threats.
  • Reminder to run a scan after a specified number of days: Turn on this setting to get a reminder to run a scan after 1, 3, 7, 14, or 30 days.
  • Reminder to run a scan when new files or programs are downloaded: Turn on this setting to get an hourly, daily, weekly, or biweekly reminder to run a scan when new files or programs are downloaded.

• Protection notifications
  • Any Real-Time Protection layer turned off: Turn on this setting to get a notification when your real-time protection setting is turned off. Real-time protection is critical to keeping your device secure; learn more here.
  • Malicious website detected and blocked: Turn on this setting to be notified when Desktop Security detects and blocks a malicious website.
  • Malware blocked and automatically quarantined: Turn on this setting to be notified when Desktop Security blocks and quarantines malware found on your device.
  • Ransomware blocked and automatically quarantined: Turn on this setting to be notified when Desktop Security blocks and quarantines ransomware found on your device.
  • Exploit detected and blocked: Turn on this setting to be notified when Desktop Security detects and blocks an exploit on your device.

• VPN notifications
  • VPN connected and disconnected: Turn on this setting to be notified when the VPN connects or disconnects from a server.

• Advanced settings
  • Close notifications after: You can set notifications to close after between 3 seconds and 3 minutes, or to never close.

• Play mode
  • Suspend notifications when selected apps are open: Turn on this setting to stop notifications when you are using a specific app; like when playing a game, watching a movie, or giving a presentation. To add an app:
    1. Click Add app.
    2. On the Play mode screen, click Add item.
    3. Choose your app from the File Explorer.
    4. Click Open.
