You may encounter the following error when trying to run System Restore on your Windows device with Desktop Security installed.
What caused this issue
Desktop Security is a security app that blocks potentially harmful software from running on your device. It can sometimes interfere with software unexpectedly.
How to resolve this issue
To allow System Restore to run on your Windows device, you must first turn off self-protection in the Desktop Security app. Then, quit the app and run System Restore again.
Step 1: Turn off self-protection
- Open the app.
- Click the Settings
icon in the sidebar.
- Under General settings, toggle off Enable self-protection module.
- In the pop up, click Yes.
Step 2: Quit Desktop Security app
- In the System Tray, click the Show hidden icons arrow. The system tray is located in your taskbar next to your clock.
- Right-click the Malwarebytes icon, then click Quit Malwarebytes.
- When the User Account Control window appears, click Yes.
- Run System Restore again.
- Restore your protection by opening the Malwarebytes app and toggling on the Enable self-protection module setting.
Note: If you are still encountering the System Restore error, there may be another anti-virus installed on your computer. Check with the other anti-virus vendor for a resolution.
