Malwarebytes Browser Guard's Access control feature shows you exactly which sites have access to use your camera, microphone, and location. It also shows which sites are allowed to send you notifications or surprise pop-ups. With Access control, you can manage and block unnecessary website access to your computer.
This feature is available for those with a Malwarebytes Desktop Security subscription on Chrome browsers on a Windows device.
Set up Access control
The Access control feature requires certain permissions to see which sites you visit and what access they have to your device.
To get started with Access control:
- Click the Malwarebytes icon
in your browser's header.
- Click the Dashboard tab at the bottom of the Browser Guard dashboard. A web page opens in your browser.
- On the left sidebar of the web page, click Access control.
- Click Allow to enable the See visited websites permission. Then click Allow again to confirm.
- Click Allow to enable the Manage content settings permission. Then click Allow again to confirm.
- Once both permissions are allowed, Access control is ready to use!
Allow or block site access
The Access control screen shows which websites are allowed or blocked from sending you notifications, accessing your location, showing pop-ups, or using your microphone or camera. You can manage a website's access by clicking the three dots next to the website and selecting Allow, Block access, or Ask every time. Ask every time is the default setting that appears before you interact with a web page. Selecting Ask every time ensures that a website must ask for access to your location, microphone, camera, or for permission to show pop-ups every time you visit the site.
