Malwarebytes in Claude features
When the Malwarebytes connector is active, Claude can help you with the following:
- Check links: Paste a URL you received in a text, email, or message, and Claude will tell you if it's safe to click.
- Check phone numbers: Share a phone number from an unknown caller or message, and Claude will check if it's associated with scams.
- Check email addresses: Share a sender's email address, and Claude will check if the domain is linked to phishing or fraud.
- Look up domain registration: Ask Claude to look up WHOIS information for a domain to see when it was registered, who the registrar is, and whether it looks legitimate.
- Check multiple items at once: If you received a message with several links, phone numbers, or email addresses, Claude can check all of them in a single step.
- Report suspicious content: If you confirm something is a scam, you can ask Claude to report it to the Malwarebytes threat intelligence team for further analysis.
Not sure where to start? Try these prompts. You can also upload screenshots or documents and Claude will extract links, phone numbers, and email addresses from them and check each one automatically.
To check a link:
"I got a text saying my package is held at customs with this link: http://txdmv.gov-mbjn.vip/track. Is it safe to click?"
Claude checks the link against the Malwarebytes threat intelligence database and explains whether it's safe, suspicious, or malicious. If the domain is newly registered or impersonates a legitimate site, Claude will point that out.
To check a phone number:
"I keep getting calls from +1-833-487-2544 about an extended car warranty. Is this a scam?"
Claude checks the phone number and provides details like the region, carrier, and phone type. If the number is flagged as suspicious, Claude will recommend blocking it.
To check everything in a suspicious email:
"I got this email from user@xsq5f1.qnxo7m.us saying my account was compromised. It tells me to verify at http://iptest.malwarebytes.com or call +1-833-487-2544. Is any of this real?"
Claude checks the email address, the link, and the phone number all at once and provides a summary of the results. In this case, the link is flagged as malicious, while the email address and phone number are suspicious. Claude explains the overall risk and recommends the next steps.
Understanding results
When Claude checks a link, phone number, or email address, it returns one of four verdicts:
- Malicious: This link, number, or email address is a confirmed threat. Do not click the link, call the number, or reply to the email.
- Suspicious: This link, number, or email address may be dangerous. The context suggests the link, number, or email address may be risky, but there is no confirmed threat yet. It's best to proceed with caution.
- Safe: This link, number, or email address is known and legitimate. It is safe to interact with.
- Unknown: There is no information available in the threat intelligence database. This does not mean it's safe, so be careful.
