Android 9 no longer supported

Google has officially ended support for Android 9. Once an operating system has reached end of support, they are more vulnerable to attacks and may limit app performance.

What this means for your subscription

Malwarebytes works best on devices and systems that are up-to-date. The latest version of the app with advanced protections is not available on unsupported systems.

If you have Malwarebytes on a device running Android 9 or lower, you will continue to receive regular threat intelligence updates for a limited time. To continue to get complete app updates, you will need to update your Android version.

What you need to do

If you can't update your Android device

If updating to the latest Android OS isn't possible at the moment, you can continue to use your Malwarebytes app. However, this version of Malwarebytes cannot receive updates.

If you can update your Android device

To keep using Malwarebytes on your device:

  1. First, update your Android device to the latest version. Check out Google's help article for more information: Update your Android device
  2. After updating your device, update the Malwarebytes app to the latest version. Check out Google's help article for more information: How to update apps on Android
