Website blocked due to tracking attempt

When Malwarebytes Browser Guard catches a hidden tracker on a website, it may show you a "Tracking Attempt" block notification. These block notifications are to alert you that the site you're on uses trackers and are not necessarily caused by visiting a malicious website. Trackers are commonly used on coupon sites, discount emails, or browser extensions, attempting to follow your clicks and report them back for affiliate commissions or other financial gain. Browser Guard blocks these trackers to help protect your privacy. If you trust the site or link you are visiting, you can bypass the block by:

  • Clicking Continue to this website in the block screen
  • Turning off ads and tracker blocking for that site
  • Adding that site to Browser Guard's Allow list

Option 1: Continue to this website

To view the blocked website, click Continue to this website at the bottom of the block notification screen. To ensure the site is not blocked in the future, check the box next to Do not block this site again.

Option 2: Turn off Ads/Tracker blocking

To view the blocked website, turn off Browser Guard's Ads/Tracker blocking protection:

  1. Navigate to the site with a tracker.
  2. Click the Malwarebytes icon image-20240403-125645.png in your browser's header. If you don't see the icon in your header, see this article on pinning it.
  3. On the main dashboard, toggle off Ads/Tracker.

Option 3: Add the website to Browser Guard's Allow list

To view the blocked website, add the website to your Allow list by following the steps in Add websites to the Allow list in Browser Guard.
